Repurpose

I finally had time to clean up two vintage timecard racks to hang and use to display photos!  They worked out perfect! I love making the old new again! Repurposing is a must!

For the Love of Junk

You know your boys love you, when they call you on a Saturday morning and tell you they got a load of junk in the back of their truck and ask if you want to come go through it before they haul it to the dump!  Yes!  How sweet it is!  They know their mama all to well!  I have been known to dumpster dive, so I can now add truck bed diving to my credentials!  Ha!

My little mind has been spinning like wheels trying to decide what I am going to make out of these old window screens!

Stay tuned.......

Have a blessed day!

Portraiture Class

Photography is my passion.  I guess you would say I have waited my whole life for this.  I can remember always wanting to learn to shoot when I was younger, but working full time, raising three kids and life just happened, before this did. So I am happy to say that being 50 and fulfilling one of my life time goals feels really good!

These are shots from my Portraiture Class yesterday.  It's nice when you have a great teacher and he offers to be the model too!

Have a blessed day!

Heavy Heart

My heart is heavy, to say the least.  In six days my daughter and her husband will leave for Afghanistan for nine months.  From the day she told us she was joining the Army I have had peace in my heart.  She has amazed us in so many ways the past three years.  We are so proud of her.  She met her husband in Colorado and he is the the Army as well.  We are just as proud of him, proud of the both of them!   They have accomplished so much in the little time that they have been married and in the Army. I continue to have a peace in my heart as they prepare to leave for a far away place, that hopefully they will never have to return to.  I have always been a believer that everything happens for a reason and with GOD all things are possible.  So I pray the simple prayer that HE will protect them, keep them safe and shower them with blessings as they start this new nine month chapter in their lives. Amen.

Have a blessed day!

Something About a Truck

Admit it!  There's just something about a truck!

Oh how my heart goes to fluttering when I think about driving this truck one day!  Hopefully that will be soon!  It's a work in progress, but my hubby is assuring me it will be really soon!  Stay tuned for the final reveal!

Have a blessed day!

The Emporium Arts and Culture Center Shoot

A few weeks ago, I had the honor to attend a photo shoot at The Emporium Arts and Culture Center in Knoxville, TN.  I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to photography, because there is still so much I need to learn.  I have taken a couple of classes, attended a few workshops and joined a photography meet up group and watched youtube videos, so I guess you would consider me self taught?  Anyway, while attending these different venues of photography classes/workshops, I have experienced the fact that every instructor or professional photographer teaches you different techniques.  Which in my book is a good thing!  I want to learn it all!  But I have found one thing that is pretty universal in all of these classes, they all agree that the more you shoot, the better you become!   So with that being said, I know these images aren't perfect.  They are far from that!  But the experience I gained from shooting for a straight two hours that night are priceless!  I'm still proud of the images I did capture, because I can look at them and see how far I have come from when I first began shooting.  So all you peeps starting out, shoot, shoot and shoot more!  Happy snapping!

My Greats

Last week was spent with my great nieces.  They both came down to visit my mother for a week from Memphis.  These girls are totally awesome young women!  I was amazed at out smart and kooky they could be!  Spending time with them made me realize how much I miss having my kids around and them being young again.  God blesses us over and over.  He blesses us with our own children, the we get nieces, nephews and hopefully one day grandchildren!

Hope your day is filled with many blessings!  Enjoy
