Oh Christmas Tree!

Please don't judge him by his size.  He fit my washtub! Lol  Not sure I have ever had a tree this small, but he is growing on me.  I have been wanting to use my washtub for a Christmas tree for years.  So this year I said, let's do it!  I can at least say I didn't have to move any furniture around to make space to put him!  That was really nice!  The other thing,  did you notice my star bursts?  I was playing with my camera to see how big I could get the star bursts with the Christmas tree lights!  Yes! I should have been doing laundry!  Ha!  Remember, bigger is not always better!

Vintage Christmas

Happy Holidays!  I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving!  Ours was wonderful!  Of course the day after Thanksgiving my Christmas hormones start kicking in!  Instead of  shopping on Black Friday, I chose to pack away all my Fall decorations and started shopping around the house for my front porch display!  I wasn't really sure where I was going this year with my decorations, mostly because I got a wild hair this Spring and painted my front door a beachy blue! Eeeek! I love it!

With that said, I started shopping around the house and pulled some of my vintage items together. I wasn't really for sure the sign on the door would work, but I kept thinking it would be so cool hanging on the door.  The sign is painted on an old crate and really heavy.  So I decided to stick a 1/2 inch foam weather stripping around it (found at Home Depot) to prevent it banging up my door and used a staple gun to attach the greenery, pine cones, etc, taken off an old (I mean old) wreath that was in my Goodwill pile.  I really liked how it turned out.  The rest of my vintage items went in my old rusted through old red wagon.  This could be the last year to use him.  He was pretty rusted when I bought it for $5 bucks, but I knew I could get enough use out of it before the bottom rusted through.  He is hanging in there strong!!

Thanksgiving

Food. Gatherings. Giving Thanks.  That's what the holidays are all about (and pies of course).
Not that I'm not thankful everyday, but this time of year is seems like I am more thankful!  I would love to think that my daughter and her husband that are stationed in Afghanistan right now could be home for the holidays.  But they can't.  So I won't dwell on them not being here, I'll give thanks that they are healthy, happy and safe.  I will give thanks that I will be able to spend the holidays with my family that are here.  So I want to wish everyone a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!!

Give Thanks
Blessings Always!

Wedding Workshop & Giving Thanks

Wow!  is there anything more beautiful than a woman in a white wedding dress??  I DON"T THINK SO!

I had the opportunity to attend a Photography Bridal Workshop last month and it was such a fun event!   Not sure I would want to become a wedding photographer (STRESSFUL) but shooting these young ladies was an absolute joy!

With the holidays fast approaching I just wanted to take time to say how thankful I am.  I am very thankful for ALL the many BLESSINGS that the good LORD has blessed me and my family with.  But sometimes, it's the little blessings in our everyday lives that mean the most.  This time of year I'm thankful for:

family
friends
fall
crisp cool evenings
taking walks
leaves
candy corn
pumpkin spice latte's
candles
fire pits

Give thanks for everything, for every little thing is a blessing!  Hope your fall is fabulous!!!!!!!

Blessings Always!

Chalkboard Redo

The weather we are having in East Tennessee is fall heaven!  It has been perfect weather for hitting garage sales! I wanted to squeeze time in to show you my chalkboard redo!  I picked up this kids blue chalkboard over the weekend for $.50 cents.  I had been looking for one to add to my front porch fall fluff, so this little guy was screaming to come home with me.  All it took was a little black chalkboard paint, a little dark walnut stain for the frame and TA-DAH! Perfect little chalkboard!!  Hope your enjoying your fall weather!

Blessings!

It's Fall Ya'll

It's fall ya'll!  Are you excited?  I know I am!  I love the weather turning cooler, pumpkins galore, colorful mums, cornstalks, scarecrows, so and so on!  I try to decorate the first weekend in October.  That way I get to enjoy it longer.  Usually everything lasts until Thanksgiving, except all the cool pumpkins I carve on Halloween.  This summer I decided to give my front door some pop! I painted it a cool beach color.  I really love the color, but wasn't sure how it would blend with fall and Christmas decorations.  What do you think? So far I'm loving it with my fall decor!

Blessing Always!

Vintage Fall

Happy fall ya'll!  I am enjoying this fall weather so much!  I have been trying to make myself stay inside and do some housework, even though that's not working out to well. But what can I say? I'm just not the type of person that can stay inside when we are blessed with a beautiful day!  Can you blame me?  Well, I have managed to spend a little time trying to add some fall fluff to nest.  Of course I'm going to mix a little vintage in with anything I do, so here I have a simple white pumpkin made out of a vintage chenille bedspread layered on some old vintage flea marked find books! I just love the white and rustic look together!  I have decided that not everything has to be orange to celebrate fall! Lol!  Actually I have most my orange outside!  Pumpkins galore! Yikes!

Happy Fall!

Pups & Pumpkins

I love fall!  I spent the entire day yesterday dragging at all my fall goodies to start decorating!  There's just something about the chill in the air, the smell of pumpkin spice and the leaves starting to fall one by one!

I love pumpkins!  I usually always get several orange and several white ones to incorporate into my decorating, more pics to follow.  If I haven't mentioned that I get side tracked easily, well I do.  In the middle of my decorating dance yesterday, I caught the most beautiful light coming in from my downstairs french doors.  Well that only means, it's camera time!  Yep, the pups got their portraits taken with the great white pumpkin!  Not sure they were as excited as I was, but they did what they had to do. Not the best quality photos, but hey! These models are on a time schedule!  They don't sit for long!

Blessings as always

Wisdom Tooth & Treasure Hunting

Last week I had a wisdom tooth removed.  Yes, that's right, a week before my 50th birthday, one of my wisdom teeth decided to make an entrance!  Just like that!  It just popped right through the old gum! The Oral Surgeon said that sucker had to go.  So last weekend was more or less a blur, you know the routine, rest, meds, gargle with salt water, rest, meds and gargle some more.  Ugh! Anyway, I was not planning on going out on any treasure hunts like I usually do.

But one thing led to another and Saturday morning led us to a small flea market on the side of the road, while on the way to the store.  Of course, I thought it wouldn't hurt just to get out and look?  Right?  We weren't there 5 minutes when this little man caught my eye.  I did not need a typewriter, was not looking for a typewriter, had no where to put a typewriter.  That thought quickly left, so I scurried over to take a look at him.  I could not help but drool over his physical appearance!  I decided I had to have him, only if the price was right!  That means dirt cheap to me!  The gent looked at me and told me I could have him for $30 bucks.  I knew in my mind that I didn't want to pay over $10 for him and knew he would not go down to my price.  So I said no thanks, turned and moved on.  I knew I didn't really need him anyway?  Right?  Well, as I was walking off, the gent yelled at me and said make me an offer!  I couldn't believe it, I turned around and with a questionable smile asked, would you take $10?  Can you guess what he said?  He said, IT'S YOURS!  Yippee!  Yeah!

The lesson learned in all this is, when your not looking and least expect it, that perfect treasure just might be waiting for you AT A GREAT PRICE!!! AND HE STILL WORKS!!!!

Blessings always,

Fall & Fairs

Fall and fairs, they just go together, like peanut butter and jelly.

It's hard to believe summer has come and gone.  But with the days getting shorter and the nights getting cooler, I welcome fall, just like I welcomed the fair this year.  It was magical.

Happy fall ya'll & many blessings
